A dispensing module (10) and method of dispensing an adhesive includes a dispenser body (12) having a valve element (18) and a nozzle (14). The nozzle (14) includes a nozzle member (24), a sealing zone (26), and a valve seat (28). The nozzle member (24) includes a liquid passageway (44) having a bore (48), a cylindrical surface (50), a second converging surface (56), and a shoulder (52). The sealing zone (26) is defined by the cylindrical surface (50) and extends from the bore (48) toward the shoulder (52) and engages the valve element (18) to close a first volume of the liquid passageway (44) from the inlet (42). The valve seat (28) is defined by the shoulder (52) and the second converging surface (56) and has a circular line of contact that engages the valve element (18) to close a second volume of the liquid passageway (44) from the inlet (42). The first volume reduces to the second volume as the valve element (18) moves distally along the sealing zone (26) for discharging the adhesive.
