An epilatory composition comprising an admixture of a hydrocarbon resin material and a mineral oil in weight ratio of 1.3:1 to 2.8:1, a particulate silica, and a polyethylene in the form of a homopolymer. The hydrocsrbon resin is preferably selected from poly(methylsytrene-co-indene), hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene resin, C5 C9 partially or fully hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin and hydrogenated styrene/methylstyrene/indene copolymer. The hydrocarbon is preferably hydrogenated styrene/methylstyrene/indene copolymer. The epilatory composition preferably comprises 55-70% wt/wt hydrocarbon resin. The polyethylene preferably has a molecular weight from 100 to 1000 mass units, and is preferably present in 0.1-5% wt/wt of the composition. The silica and the polyethylene are preferably present in a ratio between 16:1 and 2:3. The particulate silica is preferably present in 2% by weight of the composition. A preferred composition comprises 60-68.5 wt% of a hydrocarbon resin; 30-38.5 wt% of a mineral oil; 1-2 wt% of particulate silica; and 0.5-1 wt% of a polyethylene linear homopolymer. The composition has improved grip of a users hair, thereby leading to more efficient hair removal and increased ease of use. |
