The communications interface system has a first group (2) with units (4 to 8) and a second group (3) with units (301 to 305). There is an electro optical converter (9,10,15,16) sending optical signal wavelengths and demultiplexing optical signal wavelengths. A multiplexer/demultiplexer network (191 to 193,17,18) passes the optical signals to the second group by an input/output interface and optical line sets.
