PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control operation characteristic of an intake valve in startup of an internal combustion engine so that output characteristic and vibration suppression can be properly secured in startup of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: The hybrid vehicle runs while being selectively applied with one of a charge depleting (CD) mode and a charge sustaining (CS) mode. The internal combustion engine includes a variable valve device to vary the operation characteristic of the intake valve. When the CD mode is selected, the variable valve device controls a lift amount and/or a working angle of the intake valve in startup of the internal combustion engine so that the lift amount and/or the working angle are smaller than those when CS mode is selected. |
