952,305. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Jan. 22, 1963 [Feb. 7, 1962], No. 2728/63. Heading HIT. A transformer coil 1 is wound in a bath 2 (Fig. 2) of resin. The supply of wire 5, and of interlayer insulation, may be in air, or to prevent the inclusion of air pockets, each may be situated under vacuum in a container 7 partially or wholly filled with liquid resin, and the output nozzle 8 from each container may dip into the resin 2 in the bath to ensure that the whole operation is carried out under vacuum. The axial feed of the wire may be by movement of container 7 or by guides in bath 2. The resin, which may be an epoxy resin, a polyester, or a polyvinyl acetal, may have known filling materials added such as powdered silica, chalk or carbon black to reduce shrinkage stresses, the consequent increase in viscosity having no serious effect in this process upon complete impregnation. |
