The invention comprises organotin salts of amino acids and peptides other than those of N-acyl amino acids wherein the organotin residue has the formula -OSnR1R11R111 where R1, R11 and R111, which may be identical or different, are substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl aryl or aralkyl radicals. The compounds of the invention may be prepared by reacting organotin hydroxides or oxides with the corresponding amino acid or peptide in an aprotic solvent (e.g. toluene benzene or dimethyl formamide) or by reacting an organotin halide with an alkali metal salt of the amino acid or peptide also in an aprotic solvent. N-acyl derivatives of amino acids and peptides may be prepared by reacting the organotin salts of the invention with a carboxylic acid anhydride, mixed carboxylic carbonic acid anhydride or acid chloride, preferably in the presence of a base such as triethylamine. The preparations of N-carbobenzoxyglycyl-DL-phenylalamine, N - carbobenzoxyglycyl-DL - tryptophan, N - carbobenzoxyglycyl - DL-methionine and N-acetyl-valine are exemplified.ALSO:Organotin salts of amino acids and peptides other than those of N acyl-amino acids wherein the organotin residue has the formula -OSnR/svR/yFR/yG where R/sv, R/yF, R/yG, which may be the same or different, are substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radicals, may be used as active ingredients in microbiocidal and pesticidal compositions. |
