Method of energy generation using a medium-temp. nuclear reactor operates with a steam-water cycle in which steam from the reactor is superheated by an external heat source before passing to a turbine, where it is expanded to intermediate pressure before finally passing, optionally through other plant, to the condensor, feed pump etc. before passing back into the reactor. Before the steam leaving the reactor passes to the external heating source, it is preheated by thermal exchange with the intermediate pressure steam leaving the tubrine. Specifically, the steam at intermediate pressure, after passing through the preheater continues to a second heater which preheats the feed-water entering the reactor. Used for nuclear powder plants in which firing is used for superheating to improve the cycle efficiency.
|
