<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that has low power consumption and is operable regardless of a power supply environment, and an image forming apparatus using the fixing device.SOLUTION: A fixing device 8 includes a fixing rotating body 11 having heating means, and a pressurizing roller 12 that comes into contact with the fixing rotating body 11 and forms a fixing nip N between itself and the fixing rotating body 11. The fixing device is configured to pass a sheet P through the fixing nip and to fix a toner image on the sheet P by heat and pressure. The heating means includes: a fuel container 20 that houses a volatile liquid fuel; and a reaction chamber 14 that is disposed inside the fixing rotating body 11 while communicating with the fuel container 20, that houses a catalyst carrier 16 carrying a catalyst and an ignition device 18 which preliminarily heats the catalyst carrier 16, and that subjects a mixture gas of vaporized fuel and air to a catalytic reaction. The heating means heats the fixing rotating body 11 by oxidation heat generated by the catalytic reaction.</p> |
