PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil separator having good separation performance.SOLUTION: An oil mist separator 14 separates oil contained in a carrier gas 2, which is a crankcase circulation gas of an internal combustion engine 15. It includes a filter device 1 for separating liquid floating particles from the carrier gas, a housing 3 having an inlet opening 4 of the carrier gas, and an outlet opening 5 for the filtrated carrier gas. A filter insertion body 6 is arranged inside the housing. It has a guide device 9 which can deflect a flow passage by increasing a flow speed of the carrier gas passing through the filter insertion body and/or forming the extended, preferably maze-like flow passage 16 for the carrier gas. The filter device can be arranged in the oil mist separator 14 in a releasable manner. A seal part extending in a peripheral direction is provided between a first fixing surface of the oil mist separator of the filter device and a second fixing surface which is fixed on it. |
