<p>The delta-wing aeroplane contains an opening in each wing which takes the shape of a triangle, trapezium or parallelogram. The section of wing situated in front of the opening itself forms a front wing, the trailing edge of which is formed by the front edge of the opening. The section of wing situated behind the opening forms a rear wing, the leading edge of which is formed by the rear edge of the opening. The arrangement allows supersonic aircraft to generate extra lift at subsonic speeds.</p> |
