This invention addresses the problem of providing a blazed diffraction grating that has a smaller blaze angle than existing blazed diffraction gratings and a method for manufacturing said blazed diffraction grating. This method for manufacturing a blazed diffraction grating comprises a step in which, on top of a support that has a surface that comprises alternating base blaze surfaces and base step surfaces laid out in a repeating manner in one direction and has a sawtooth-shaped cross section, a resin layer that contacts said surface is formed such that the thickness of said resin layer varies monotonically in the aforementioned direction and a metal coating film is formed so as to cover the surface of said resin layer. After a solvent-borne resin is applied to the support, the thickness of the resulting resin layer can be made to vary monotonically via either a volatilization-amount differential or centrifugal force. |
