A production method of a lipophilic bioactive substance, comprising mixing an aqueous suspension of a microbial cell containing a lipophilic bioactive substance or a microbial cell homogenate thereof with an organic solvent in the presence of at least one kind of non-ionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer surfactants, sucrose fatty acid esters, glycerol fatty acid esters, sorbitan fatty acid esters, polyetherpolyol surfactants, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether surfactants and alkylether surfactants, wherein the amount of the non-ionic surfactant is 0.01 to 10 wt % of the aqueous suspension of the microbial cell or microbial cell homogenate, and extracting the lipophilic bioactive substance.
