1. A compact fluorescent lamp comprising:
a light source; a ballast; a base, wherein the base is operatively connectable to a power source; a housing, wherein the housing is coupled to the base and surrounds at least in part the ballast and the light source; a solid state light source end-of-life indicator, wherein the solid state light source end-of-life indicator comprises at least one light emitting diode, is located on an exterior of the housing, and emits light at the end of life of the light source; and an end-of-life detection circuit, comprising a resistor, a capacitor, a transformer having a first winding and a second winding, and a diac, wherein the second winding is connected in series with the diac, wherein the series connection of the second winding and the diac are connected in parallel with the capacitor, wherein the capacitor is connected in series with the resistor, wherein the resistor is connected to the light source, and wherein the end-of-life detection circuit is configured to detect when the light source is at an end of its life and, in response, to provide an end-of-life signal to activate the solid state light source end-of-life indicator. |
