The present invention relates to a display apparatus and a control method thereof, capable of controlling brightness on a screen in consideration of an external light source reflected from the screen in the display apparatus. The display apparatus according to the present invention includes a display unit which has the screen on which an image is displayed, a camera which photographs the front side of the display unit, and a control unit which grasps a reflection region with the reflection degree of light emitted from the external light source over a preset value with regard to a visible position of a user among the regions of the screen of the display unit based on the image photographed by the camera and controls the image on the reflection region of the screen to be brighter than the image on the other regions. According to the configuration, the external light source brightens the image on the reflection region of the screen of the display unit in comparison with the image on the other regions. Thereby, the visibility of the user is improved. |
