A medium for electromagnetic radiation phase control is provided, the medium comprising: a first metasurface layer 101 comprising a plurality of anisotropic nanorods 102, 104, 106 each with a long axis and a short axis, the nanostructures each have a predetermined orientation; a second dielectric layer 108 configured to at least partially transmit radiation incident upon the medium, and disposed beneath the first layer; a reflective surface 110 configured to at least partially reflect the radiation after it has been at least partially transmitted by the second layer, wherein the reflective surface is beneath the second layer; wherein the medium is configured to impart a phase delay between orthogonal electric field components of the incident radiation. The medium may be used to implement a holographic image. |
