<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for plating an article with coating from a plating bath. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided the device and method for plating the article (10) with coating by using at least one adaptable anode (40) in a plating treatment. A wire or other material suitable for an anode is molded so as to fit in the approximate shape of the area of the article to be coated. The anode is driven by a power source (44), and the article functions as a cathode. The anode and article are both immersed in the plating bath (38), and are rotated facing each other around the central axis (22) of the article. By the relative movement between the anode and the article, a uniform plating is applied to the selected area of the article passing through the anode.
