1,061,311. Burning sewage sludge. DORROLIVER Inc. March 17, 1965 [March 31, 1964], No. 11274/66. Heading F4B. Sewage sludge, or other organic waste with a high moisture content is burnt by feeding compacted material into a fluidized bed of inert granular material. The sludge is fed by a screw feeder 50 mounted on wheels so that it may be moved away to prevent sludge in the feeder outlet becoming coked after feeding is stopped. The outlet of the feeder may have blades to divide the plug of material as it passes into the fluidized bed. The furnace chamber may taper downwardly from the top level of the bed so as to compensate for the volume of gas produced by the drying and combustion of the sludge. Instead of a movable screw feeder, the outlet of the feeder may be cleared by injecting a fluid.
|
