[Class 145 (ii)] A boat hull or a body for a vehicle, aircraft or like structure built as a whole or in part in the usual way from strips, planks or pieces of wood, plywood or other suitable material shaped to size by planing, cutting or like manual operations other than moulding operations, has the planks &c. prior to such fabrication impregnated with a synthetic resin and compressed in some cases with the application of heat, so that the density of the material is increased by the impregnation and compression by an amount of at least 50 per cent. A double-skin body may have the outer skin only constructed of the impregnated material. Meeting or overlapping edges may be sealed by synthetic resin which may be cold-setting. In the case of plywood the outer lamina only may be impregnated. Specification 387,183 is referred to. |
