<p>The present invention relates to an alternative intra prediction device which is suitable for screen content in HEVC and a method thereof and, more specifically, to an alternative intra prediction device capable of providing alternative prediction by combining existing vertical and horizontal prediction modes to show high efficiency in the screen content without an encoding performance drop in a natural image and a method thereof. The alternative intra prediction device which is suitable for the screen content in the HEVC comprises; a substitution step of substituting a prediction signal according to an alternative intra prediction (AIP) mode for a prediction signal of prediction mode 3, 5, 13, 15, 31, 33 if a prediction unit (PU) of a brightness signal is 4x4; a substitution step of substituting a prediction signal according to the AIP mode for a prediction signal in a color difference signal by the same method with the brightness signal if a prediction mode of a PU of the color difference signal is luma_derived and the PU of the faced brightness signal is 4x4 and the prediction mode is 3, 5, 13, 15, 31, 33; and a selection step of selecting a prediction mode having the lowest error value by calculating a prediction error value for a total of 35 prediction modes, including 6 substituted AIP modes.</p> |
