Disclosed is an electrolyte for a lithium battery. The electrolyte contains a quaternary ammonium ionic liquid, and the quaternary ammonium ionic liquid contains cations and anions, wherein the cations are N-alkyl quaternary ammonium; and the anions are one of halide ions, tetrafluoroborate anions, hexafluorophosphate anions, bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anions, lactate anions, p-toluene sulfonate anions, acetyl sulfonimide anions, saccharin anions, amino acid anions, sulphate anions, diisooctyl sulfosuccinate anions, 4,5-dinitroimidazole anions and 5-nitrotetrazole anions. The quaternary ammonium ionic liquid contained in the electrolyte of the present invention can be used as a reaction catalyst for a wide-temperature battery, and can enable a high-temperature lithium battery to have a consistent high-performance discharge capability within a range from room temperature to high temperatures. At the same time, also disclosed is a lithium battery containing the electrolyte. |
