The invention relates to a control device (1) for a laser system (10) having a laser (11) for making cuts in a lens (21) of a human eye or animal eye (20), which control device is designed to arrange and move a focal point of a laser beam of the laser within the lens, wherein the focal point can be moved for at least one cut (21.1) for segmenting the lens into individual segments (21.1a) and can be moved in accordance with a definable cutting pattern for finely fragmenting the lens, wherein the control device (1) is designed to determine an individual segment of the segments and to move the focal point within the determined segment in a radial direction maximally to a distance greater than zero from an edge of the lens for the fine fragmentation. The invention further relates to a method for controlling the laser system (10).
