PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set items as desired, without moving between tabs.SOLUTION: An apparatus for issuing a processing instruction to an image forming apparatus functions as a function setting unit which displays a plurality of items to be set in a setting screen, and a data generation unit which generates instruction data on the basis of values of the items. The function setting unit includes: a first display control unit for displaying a plurality of setting items in a first display area of the setting screen; and a second display control unit for displaying an item selected from among the items in a second display area of the setting screen. The second display control unit divides the second display area into a first part for displaying a first item to be set selected from among the items and a second part for displaying an icon to be selected indicating a value of a second item selected from among the items. According to operation for setting one of items in the first and second parts, a display state of the other item is changed.
