PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of displaying video having high resolution feeling regardless of a projection mode.SOLUTION: A projection type video display device 100 comprises: a video generation part 20 for generating video light; a projection optical system 60 for projecting the video light; an optical path change part 80 for changing a display position of the video light on a projection surface; and a control part 70 for controlling the video generation part and the optical path change part, and has a plurality of projection modes. When the projection mode is changed and the optical path change part is operated, the control part matches the display position on the projection surface with a video input signal.
