A method to couple exterior components (1,2) of a vehicle includes providing a protrusion (5) about at least a portion of a first exterior component (2), installing the first exterior component (2) proximal to a second exterior component (1), overlapping the protrusion of the first exterior component (2) about a at least a portion of the second exterior component (1), interposing an elastic member (4) between a peripheral surface (2A) of the first exterior component (2) and an edge (1A) of the second exterior component (1), and positioning the elastic member (4) beneath the protrusion of the first exterior component (2).
