According to an embodiment a central vectoring processor (6) is disclosed coupled to Distributed Processing Units DPUs (3), and configured to process downstream communication signals (V) to be transmitted over communication lines (10) of a vectoring group connecting Customer Premises Equipment CPEs (9) to the DPUs (3). The central vectoring processor (3) is further configured to pre-compensate the communication signals for inter-DPU crosstalk occurring between communication lines (10) connected to distinct DPUs, thereby obtaining partially pre-compensated communication signals (V') to be transmitted to the respective DPUs (3) for further pre-compensation of intra-DPU crosstalk occurring between communication lines (10) connected to a same DPU (3).
