PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having self heating property as a catalyst for promoting a modification reaction of hydrocarbon, having high yield of obtained hydrogen from the modification reaction while using inexpensive metals as a catalytic active metal, a manufacturing method of the catalyst, a manufacturing method of hydrogen-containing gas using the catalyst, hydrogen production equipment having the catalyst and a fuel cell system having the hydrogen production equipment.SOLUTION: There is provided a catalyst having a carrier consisting of a composite oxide of Ce and Zr and a catalytic active metal carried by the carrier, the composite oxide is manufactured by a sol-gel method and has oxygen defect, the catalytic active metal contains at least Co at 0.1 to 10 mass% based on 100 mass% of the carrier. The composite oxide is represented by the general formula CeZrOand x, y and z satisfy relations of x+y=1.0, 0.2≤x≤0.8 and 0.04≤z in the general formula. |
