PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for lithium ion secondary batteries superior in high load characteristic, and a lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: A positive electrode for lithium ion secondary batteries comprises: a positive electrode mixture layer including positive electrode active material particles, a conducting agent, and a binder; and a positive electrode collector. The conducting agent includes pieces of carbon nanotube having an average length of 1 μm or longer. The pieces of carbon nanotube are buried and distributed in the binder. The pieces of carbon nanotube serve to cross-link among particles forming at least a part of the positive electrode active material particles.
