The invention relates to a method for producing a component from a composite fiber material. A preform (1) comprising a dry fiber structure (2) is inserted into a cavity (3) of a tool (4). An auxiliary material (14) is introduced between the inserted preform (1) and the tool (4), and the dry fiber structure (2) is soaked with a flowable resin (15) in the cavity (3). The flow path of the resin (15) is influenced by the auxiliary material (14) while the fiber structure (2) is being soaked, and the preform (1) is cured into the component after the fiber structure (2) has been soaked with the resin (15).
