The objective of the present invention is to provide a composition which exhibits a liquid crystalline phase over a broad temperature range, has reduced viscosity, has good solubility at low temperatures, has high resistivity and voltage holding ratio, and is heat and light stable. The objective of the present invention is also to provide, with a high yield by using the composition, liquid crystal display elements of IPS types, TN types, etc. which have excellent display quality and do not tend to cause display defects such as burn-in or drop marks. The present invention provides: a composition which comprises one or more of a compound represented by general formula (M-1), one or more of a compound represented by general formula (M-3), and one or more of a compound represented by general formula (M-4); and liquid crystal display elements using the same. |
