A cam clutch (10) is provided with: an outer ring (2) having a circular hollow cylindrical shape; an inner ring (1) provided inside the outer ring (2) and having a circular solid cylindrical shape or a circular hollow cylindrical shape; cams (3) inserted between the outer ring (2) and the inner ring (1); and an annular spring (5) for pressing the cams (3) toward the outer ring (2) side or the inner ring (1) side. In a state in which the cams (3) are engaged with the outer ring (2) and the inner ring (1), an angle is formed between a line that connects a first point (C) of contact between the outer ring (2) and a cam (3) and a second point (B) of contact between the inner ring (1) and the cam (3), and a line that extends from the rotation axis (S) of the inner ring (1) or the outer ring (2) and passes through the second point (B) of contact. The cam clutch (10) enables the outer ring (2) and the inner ring (1) to rotate to one direction and prevents the outer ring (2) and the inner ring (1) from rotating in the other direction. A groove (6) is formed in a portion of either the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring (2) or the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring (1), the portion being located on the side opposite to the direction in which the spring (5) presses the cams. |
