<p>[Problem] Provided are square-plate-shaped zinc oxide particles having a novel shape which was unknown until now, and a method for producing the same. [Solution] Square-plate-shaped zinc oxide particles which are characterized in that the ratio of the length of the long side to the length of the short side (long-side length/short-side length) is 1.00-1.30, and the ratio of the length of the long side to the thickness (long-side length/thickness) is 3-100.</p>
