The present invention relates to a side-view type backlight device with a configuration for preventing light leakage by removing a spacing between the a source and a light guide plate. The light guide plate according to the present invention comprises: a light guiding unit made of a transparent resin; and a light emitting unit having a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) packages mounted on a substrate, wherein the light emitting unit is bonded with the light guiding unit as one entity such that a light ejecting surface of the LED package faces the light guiding unit at at least one side portion of the light guiding unit. In a configuration according to the present invention, the light guide plate is bonded to the LED package without a spacing as one entity, such that damages to the LED package due to a thermal expansion of the light guide plate and a variation in light characteristics can be prevented. Also, light loss occurring between the light source and the light guide plate is prevented, thereby improving light efficiency. |
