PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion battery having a high input and output and a high volume energy density while ensuring the safety.SOLUTION: A lithium ion battery comprises: a group of wound electrodes arranged by winding a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator; and an electrolytic solution. The lithium ion battery has a capacity of 30 Ah or larger. The positive electrode has a current collector, and a positive electrode mixture formed on the current collector. The positive electrode mixture contains a lamellar type lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt complex oxide (NMC), a spinel type lithium-manganese oxide (sp-Mn), and a conductive material. The proportion (NMC/sp-Mn) of NMC to sp-Mn by weight is 10/90 to 40/60. The conductive material contains acetylene black. The positive electrode mixture used in the present invention has a density of 2.4-2.7 g/cm, and the quantity of the applied positive electrode mixture is 170-250 g/cm. The acetylene black has preferably an average particle diameter of 20-100 nm. |
