Provided is a method for accelerating transition from the anagen to the catagen phase of the hair cycle in rodents, the method comprising a step for administering testosterone to rodents. Also provided is a method for evaluating drug efficacy in rodents, the method comprising (a) a step for inducing a synchronized anagen phase in the telogen phase of the hair cycle, (b) a step for administering testosterone, (c) a step for administering a drug, and (d) a step for evaluating the extent to which drug administration inhibits transition from the anagen phase to the catagen phase in the hair cycle of rodents which has been accelerated by testosterone administration. The efficacy of a trichogen or hair tonic can be efficiently evaluated by the simple in vivo male pattern baldness model of the present invention.
