The present technique relates to a receiving device, a receiving method, a program, and an information processing system that are so configured as to allow provision of an application program that is in conjunction with a digital television show by use of an ACR technique. A receiving device receives AV content and extracts a feature from data of the received AV content. The receiving device acquires an identification result of the AV content identified from the extracted feature by using an ACR technique and acquires a command for controlling the operation of an application program run in conjunction with the AV content in accordance with the acquired identification result. The receiving device controls the operation of the application program in accordance with the acquired command. The present technique can be applied to e.g. a television receiver that receives a digital television broadcast signal.
