In a switchgear for use in mines &c., the electrical apparatus is arranged upon a plurality of withdrawable units 37 each mounted on guides within a flameproof enclosure 2 fitted with a quick release cover 22, all the enclosures (1), 2, (3) being mechanically interconnected and communicating with one another through ports which accommodate the conductors and busbars and one of the enclosures carrying additional boxes accommodating cable inlets (4, 5), (Fig. 2, not shown) an isolator 7 interlocked with the covers 22 and an automatic circuit breaker interlocked with the isolator. Connections to the units 37 are made through contacts 47 held in engagement by a latched lever 51. The enclosures (1), 2, (3) are mounted on a pair of skids 10 mounted on detachable wheeled carriages 11.</p> |
