An insert for a panel opening has two flanges 22, 23 separated by a groove 24, flange 23 being of greater diameter than the panel opening so that, when the insert is driven into the opening by a punch, the material of the panel flows into the groove 24 of the insert. The insert may be used in conjunction with a countersunk fastener, or the insert may be internally threaded to receive a threaded fastener. Alternatively, the insert may carry a floating stud, or be used with a torque fastened retainer. |
