Provided is a medium processing device, comprising: a discharge port (40) which discharges a paper medium (13) whereby a prescribed process is carried out; a conveyance path (12-1) which is formed by an upper part guide (41-1) and a lower part guide (42), and which conveys the paper medium (13) to the discharge port (40); and a shutter (30) which is rotatable in a direction which closes or opens the conveyance path (12-1). The shutter (30) further comprises a contact part (31) which closes the conveyance path (12-1) by making contact with either the upper part guide (41-1) or the lower part guide (42), and when the paper medium (13) is to be discharged, opens the conveyance path (12-1) by being pressed by the paper medium (13) being discharged.
