<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a word recognition device capable of recognizing a word with higher accuracy, and further to provide a word recognition method and a paper sheet processing device provided with the word recognition device. <P>SOLUTION: A word recognition device comprises: a word dictionary for storing a plurality of words; analytical matching means that extracts a word image, extracts a character candidate from the word image, performs character recognition with respect to the character candidate, and calculates a first evaluation value for each word stored in the word dictionary on the basis of a result of the character recognition; overall matching means that extracts a feature from the word image, generates a word model for each word stored in the word dictionary, and calculates a second evaluation value representing a probability that the feature appears for each word model; feature probability calculating means for calculating a feature probability representing that the feature appears; integrated evaluation value calculating means that multiplies the first evaluation value, the second evaluation value and an inverse of the feature probability together to calculate a third evaluation value; and outputting means for outputting the third evaluation value calculated by the integrated evaluation value calculating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
