Methyl methacrylate is copolymerised with ethylthioethyl methacrylate (I), and possibly with one or more of the following comonomers: C1-4 alkyl acrylates, (alpha-methyl)styrene and C2-4 alkyl methacrylates. The copolymers have increased thermal stability. The amount of (I) is generally 0.1-5 weight %, preferably 0.5-3%, on the total monomers. The comonomer is preferably entirely methyl methacrylate, or contains at least 60% of methyl methacrylate.
