[Also in Division D1] The invention comprises compounds of general formula wherein each of the groups X, which may be the same or different, is a -NHCO-, -NHCH 2 - or -OCO- group; each of the groups A, which may be the same or different, is an aliphatic radical containing at least one -CF 2 CF 2 CF 3 group or -CF(R f ) 2 group wherein R f is a perfluoroalkyl group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, the aliphatic radical containing at least one other perfluorinated carbon atom; and R is a hydrogen or halogen atom; or an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms; or a nitro group; or a -SO 3 H group or an ester or alkali metal salt thereof; or a group of formula wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; or a group of formula wherein R 2 is a hydrogen atom; an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; or a -(CH 2 ) r X<SP>1</SP> group wherein X<SP>1</SP> is a halogen atom, or a hydroxy group, or a -OSO 3 H group or an alkali metal salt thereof, and r is an integer of at least 2; or a group of formula wherein R 3 is a hydrogen atom; an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; a -CO-R 4 group wherein R 4 is an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms; a -CH = CH 2 group; or a -(CH 2 ) s X<SP>11</SP> group wherein X<SP>11</SP> is a halogen atom, and s is an integer of at least 1; or a group of formula wherein R 5 is a halogen atom; or a group of formula wherein R 2 is as defined above. They may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula wherein each group L represent OH or NH 2 with a compound of the formula ACOOH or an ester or amide-forming derivative thereof, followed if desired by reduction of any -NHCO- groups to -NHCH 2 -groups and/or by conversion or replacement of the group R to a desired substituent. Examples are given for the production of the compounds. They are useful in rendering surfaces oil-repellent.</p> |
