<p>In the diagnostic method for an apparatus for measuring at least one parameter of a textile sample, the at least one parameter of the textile sample is measured (202) by the apparatus. A result of the measurement (202) is compared (203) with a desired value, which is characteristic of the measured sample and is independent of measurements from other such apparatuses. The comparison (203) allows conclusions to be drawn as to a state of the apparatus, for example a degree of soiling. Therefore, soiling of the apparatus is detected automatically and reliably. There is no need for any periodic, preventive cleaning of the apparatus. In contrast, if the apparatus is heavily soiled, a warning (204) is emitted, and therefore the apparatus can be cleaned specifically.</p> |
