<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colloidal solution including cobalt hydroxide particles which have a single nanosize and also have a narrow particle size distribution. <P>SOLUTION: The colloidal solution contains cobalt hydroxide particles and a polymeric dispersant. The polymer dispersant is at least one kind selected from acrylic polymers and/or the salts thereof, the particle diameter D<SB POS="POST">50</SB>of the cobalt hydroxide particles at which the cumulative mass of the particle size distribution thereof is 50% is 3.5 to 4.5 mm, and the particle diameter D<SB POS="POST">90</SB>of the cobalt hydroxide particles at which the cumulative mass of the particle size distribution thereof is 90% is≤2.0 times the particle diameter D<SB POS="POST">50</SB>.
