PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane which has a crimp stably and simply, facilitates a turbulent flow state of a flow of a treated liquid while suppressing generation of a stagnation part, and can obtain good treatment efficiency, and provide a hollow fiber membrane module using the hollow fiber membrane.SOLUTION: A hollow fiber membrane 10 is characterized by that a cross sectional shape vertical to an axial direction is asymmetric to a center of an outer circumference. A crimp is formed on the hollow fiber membrane 10 by heating treatment. A hollow fiber membrane module includes a housing case, and a hollow fiber membrane bundle having the hollow fiber membrane 10 which is fixed so that an inner part side and outer part side of the membrane are isolated in the housing case, and is provided with the crimp. A ratio of a membrane area of the hollow fiber membrane 10 with the crimp formed to a total membrane area of the hollow fiber membrane bundle is 30% or more. |
