1. A wick for supplying water to a growing medium through a wicking medium and capable of connecting to an adjacent second wick, said wick comprising:
a generally planar platform for supporting said growing medium, said platform comprising an outer edge and one or more openings extending therethrough; for each of said openings, one or more walls extending from said platform, said walls forming a well for holding said wicking medium, said well having an interior in communication with said opening such that said interior is Open to space above said platform, and wherein at least one of said walls comprises one or more apertures to permit contact of said water with said wicking medium; one or more male connectors arranged proximate to said outer edge; and one or more female connectors arranged proximate to said outer edge, wherein said female connectors are adapted for mating with corresponding male connectors on said adjacent second wick.
