<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for rendering a coolant made of tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234) noncombustible, and to provide a freezing cycle apparatus mounted with the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: By irradiating the coolant made of tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234) with UV light in a state where oxygen is supplied to the coolant, the double bond of carbon molecules in the tetrafluoropropen (HGO-1234) is cut to obtain a carboxylic acid structure (R-COOH), thereby rendering the tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234) noncombustible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
