An object of the present invention is to avoid a situation in which a leading end part serving as a pen point comes off during usage, even where the thickness (radial size) of a core body main body part of a core body is small. A position pointing device includes a pressure detecting part (7) which detects a pressure applied in the axial direction of a core body (4). The core body (4) includes: a leading end part (44) formed from an elastic material; a pedestal part (43) which is formed from a material harder than the material of the leading end part (44) and is joined to the leading end part (44) in the axial direction of the core body (4); and a core body main body part (41) which is joined to the pedestal part (43) in the axial direction of the core body (4), is smaller than the pedestal part (43) in thickness (radial size) in a direction orthogonal to the axial direction, and is formed from a hard material. The core body (4) is housed in a casing (2) in the state of being movable in the axial direction, in such a manner that the leading end part (44) is exposed to the exterior via an opening of the casing (2), and that a pressure exerted on the leading end part (44) in the axial direction is transmitted to the pressure detecting part (7) provided on the opposite side of the core body main body part (41) from the pedestal part (43). |
