<p>The present invention relates to a device and a method for an electronic toll collection system. The device comprises: an ETCS communications unit to process payment of a toll using wireless communications with an ETCS base station; a GPS module to receive location information of a vehicle from GPS satellites; and a plurality of ESAMs which correspond to each regional ETCS system. The device and the method of the present invention can improve the user convenience and cost efficiency through decreasing costs for authentication of terminals by making the terminals automatically select an ESAM which corresponds to a region in which a vehicle currently locates based on the location information received using the GPS module, and by making the terminals be compatible in many regions.</p> |
