<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detection unit capable of properly detecting focus even in the presence of pixel defects in a focus detection sensor, and to provide an image capturing device having the same.SOLUTION: A focus detection unit has a sensor 210 comprising a plurality of pixels and performs phase difference-based focus detection. The focus detection unit includes; focus control means 103 for controlling a focus position of an object at the sensor; means 215 for determining the presence of defective pixels in the sensor; acquisition means 215 for acquiring defocus amounts that shift the phase of the object by preset numbers of sensor pixels; and means 215 for replacing signal values of defective pixels with signal values of non-defective pixels using signal values of the object obtained from the sensor at focus positions corresponding to different defocus amounts obtained from results of acquisition by the acquisition means. The focus detection unit may also include detection means 216 for detecting spatial frequency properties of the object.</p> |
