In the present invention, provided is an expansion joint which prevents granular materials falling in an upper pipe from coming into a heat insulation material formed in an expansion pipe when operation stops, thereby preventing damage to the expansion function. The expansion joint comprises an expansion pipe (10) integrated into an upper pipe (6a) with a lower pipe (6b); a first protecting pipe (20) which is integrated into the lower pipe (6b) and installed between the inside wall of the lower pipe and the expansion pipe; a second protecting pipe (21) which is integrated into the upper pipe and formed in the first protecting pipe by having a gap and whose inner peripheral face is located in the inside wall of the lower pipe, thereby forming an opening part (24) wherein the opening part is crossed with a gas flow direction between lower end part and the inside wall of the lower pipe and accordingly is opened; sealing materials (25, 26) which are installed on the gap (S) formed between the first protecting pipe and the second protecting pipe; a heat insulation (27) with an expansion property which is installed between the expansion pipe and the first and second protecting pipe; and a slope surface which is formed on the bottom part on the gap between the first and the second protecting pipe and slopes downward. |
